Return of the Prodigal Son: Sort Of

After nine months travelling the country doing volunteer work  with Katimavik, my son has returned home.

Three months in  a small  Nova Scotia town , helping to set up and run  a community radio station, another three  working at the Aboriginal Friendship Center in British Columbia, and lastly,  three months in Quebec working  for Agape.
He also had to take turns as house manager of a group of ten people. Planning meals, shopping, and preparing the food, as well as clean the house. 

I cried tears of joy, when I read the beautiful refernce letters my son received from each employer. I am so proud of him and his accomplishments in the program. How much more conifident he is and Wow! mature.


If you know a young person in Canada, between the ages of 17 and 21,  tell them to consider checking out Katimavik. They are provided with room and board and a daily $3.00 stipend. Travel costs are paid and  after successful completion of the program, the student receives a $1000.00 toward school.

The only thing he missed was eating meat, because the majority he lived with were vegetarians.
I bought lots of steaks and chicken to celebrate his return !!
